Painterpretations January-October

Painterpretations is an intergenerational, social-cultural online art experience that brings together participants from across the globe to explore the collective works and influences of the African Diaspora. Developed seven years ago by Randiesia Fletcher, M.Ed., this free curriculum creates space for reflection, dialogue, and creative expression through a blend of music, short films, poetry, and literary excerpts.

Participants engage each session by writing a passage inspired by the topic and creating a corresponding visual work. The experience culminates in a supportive virtual sharing, where each participant presents their piece to the group.

No prior art experience is required. “Art supplies” are open to interpretation—participants are encouraged to use whatever they have available: pencils, pens, old makeup, soot, or any mark-making tool.

Painterpretations has garnered international attention, welcoming participants from across the Continental United States, Europe, the African continent, and the Caribbean—creating a truly global, intergenerational creative community.
